Comcast has said it will offer “broadband services” for its customers via its new service, “eagle fiber”.
The announcement comes after the company was forced to issue a technical notice for its internet service after its broadband internet service fell out of service earlier this month.
A new eagle fiber service is set to be introduced in the US, but a spokesperson for the company said it would not be ready for residential customers until late next year.
The service will offer customers access to an “up to 30% discount” on the price of internet services.
The company will also offer “a wide range of internet content including content delivered over the Comcast Eagle fiber network, including premium movies, TV shows and sports”, it added.
“The Eagle fiber service will be available for customers with existing Comcast broadband service to purchase as part of the new service.”
The spokesperson said it was still too early to tell how many customers would be able to access the service.
While Comcast’s Eagle fiber internet service is currently unavailable, it will be gradually rolling out to its customers in the coming months.
It will also enable Comcast to make use of its existing fiber internet infrastructure in some areas, it said.
Comcast said the service would be rolled out over the course of three to four months, but that the price would increase in the final month.
Comcast will also “continue to invest in our Eagle fiber fiber network and to deliver the most competitive internet speeds possible to our customers”, it said in a statement.
“We look forward to announcing Eagle fiber in the months ahead,” it added in a separate statement.
